Estonian Specialists Explore Finnish Green Technologies

As part of the Green Skills program, a working group from Estonia specializing in motor vehicles, maritime, and aviation technology visited Finnish companies and universities from May 6-8. The visit aimed to exchange knowledge and experiences in implementing the green transition. This initiative was part of the European Union’s NextGenerationEU recovery fund projects which promote green skills and sustainable development.

The study trip, a key component of the Green Skills program, aims to develop curricula for both degree programmes and continuing education at TTK University of Applied Sciences. The programme’s activities are designed to support companies’ green transition, integrate green skills into professional standards, and offer micro-qualification education.

The delegation visited several notable institutions, including the ABB Marine Azipod factory, known for its innovative maritime solutions, Turku University of Applied Sciences, Wärtsilä Land and Sea Academy, and Aalto University.

During the meetings, participants presented the results of the Green Skills programme, discussed teaching sustainability, and exchanged information on ongoing collaboration projects. Tarmo Sildeberg, Vice-Rector for Development at TTK, highlighted that the visits provided valuable insights into companies’ training needs and circular economy business opportunities, aiding further curriculum development.

The study trip was funded by the European Union’s NextGenerationEU recovery fund, specifically through the recovery and resilience facility’s reform investment project “Green Transition of Enterprises,” which focuses on developing green skills in the business sector.
