TTK promotes international cooperation with European universities

Representatives from the TTK University of Technology (TTK) attended the opening meeting of the ARTEMIS project for European universities in France, aimed at establishing an international network of higher education institutions that would promote pan-European cooperation in education and development.

ARTEMIS is a collaboration network where international companies and institutions develop pan-European educational activities, mobility for students and faculty, research and development cooperation, as well as innovation and sustainability initiatives.

“The network opens up opportunities for our students and faculty to learn, conduct research, and build collaborative relationships. Our faculty can bring their expertise and competence to Europe, and vice versa—faculty from other institutions bring their experience to TTK, which enhances the quality and diversity of our teaching, creates new perspectives for collaboration with businesses, and diversifies research and student life,” said TTK’s Vice Rector for Development, Tarmo Sildeberg.

Successful initiatives from partner universities are shared across the network to create added value for other partners. Sildeberg highlighted community-based research and the creation of living labs as a good example, where academic staff and students collaborate with communities and local governments to find solutions to specific challenges.

The ARTEMIS network establishes long-term, systematic, and sustainable cooperation among eight European universities and their cities. The four-year project, with a 20% own contribution, will add nearly one million euros to the university’s external project budget.

The network includes TTK University of Technology, France’s University of Clermont Auvergne and Clermont Auvergne Innovation House, Germany’s Regensburg University of Applied Sciences, Belgium’s Vives University of Applied Sciences, Greece’s University of Ioannina, Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, Romania’s Ovidius University, and Italy’s University of Perugia.

The collaboration project will last until the end of 2028, but the established network will continue to create value in the long term.

The project is co-funded by the European Union.
